Where has the podcast been for the last few weeks? Short answer: I needed to stop, so I stopped.
This is a two minute update rather than an episode. It has been a rough two or three weeks and I deliberately took extra time out instead of piling more pressure on myself. I am aware I am making it sound bigger than it is. It is not big. It is just real. And if a teacher ever tells you they are sorted, done, and never have to work on themselves again, do not believe them for a minute. Back properly next week.
One thing to try: If you need to stop, stop. You do not owe anybody a performance of being fine.

The story behind this one
Under three minutes, and no episode attached to it. I had been quiet for a couple of weeks and wanted to say why rather than let it drift.
I had not been well. Overwhelm first, which runs the body down, then a couple of infections, and one thing leading to another. Being paralysed makes all of that a bit harder for the body to deal with, whatever I do with it in my head.
So I took extra time out on purpose and went back to enjoying life a little instead of loading more pressure on top.
I am aware, saying it out loud, that I am making it sound bigger than it is. It is not big. It is just true, and I would rather tell you than vanish.
What it taught me
Overwhelm is my one, more than anything else in the house. I pile so much on that I get swamped by it, and then my body has to tell me, because I am not listening any other way.
Sometimes I need to listen to the body.
The other thing is worth saying plainly, because I have heard it done the other way round too often.
If any teacher comes along and says they are all sorted and all done and never has to work on themselves again, do not believe them for a minute.
It is all part of life and it is there for us to learn from. That includes the weeks where the learning is only that you took on too much again.
Questions people ask
Why is there no proper episode this week?
Because I was not well enough to make one and I decided not to fake it. Normal episodes and the weekly newsletter came back the following week.
Is something seriously wrong?
No. A rough two or three weeks, some overwhelm and a couple of infections, and a body that needed rest. I say in the recording that I am fine, and I meant it.
Do people who teach this stuff still struggle?
Yes, and this three minutes is the evidence. Anybody telling you they have finished working on themselves is selling you something.
